THE story of a beautiful garden which was restored after years of neglect will be told next Tuesday.

The famous Italian Garden at Great Ambrook in Ipplepen is the subject of an illustrated talk by Angela Dodd-Crompton.

The garden was built between 1909 and 1912 for Arthur Graham, who lived at Great Ambrook between 1899 and 1928.

The estate was eventually divided off and sold in the 1960s, when the garden fell into neglect until its new owners undertook a restoration programme  nearly a decade ago.

Historian Angela has been invited by Bovey Tracey Heritage Trust on Tuesday in the Phoenix Hall, St John’s Lane, Bovey Tracey at 7.30pm.

Admission is £6, to include light refreshments, and there will also be a prize draw.
