‘AMAZED and incredibly relieved’... that was the reaction of firefighters who rescued three people trapped inside a car that had drove off a cliff.
Crew from Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh were mobilised at 10.30pm on Friday, June 6, following a report of a road traffic collision on Dartmoor.
A car had left the road and had fallen more than fifty feet, landing on its side on the edge of the River Dart.
‘The team expected the worst when approaching the vehicle, but were amazed and incredibly relieved to see that the three occupants were not injured’ a spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said.
‘A tricky extrication due to the location of the vehicle and the added hazard of the river and the extra challenges that working close to a waters edge brings us’ the spokesperson added.
