Police in Buckfastleigh have made an impassioned plea for the wider community not to allow the 'mindless minority' to ruin life for everyone else.

The call comes after fears that vandals may have dangerously weakened the remains of Holy Trinty Church.

The building was the subject of a devastating arson attack in 1992 and, with the exception of the bell tower, has since been an empty shell.

Now attempts are being made to rip out its stone window frames, prompting concerns that the walls around them could collapse.
