Latest population forecasts have 'blown a hole' in Teignbridge's plan to build 12,400 new homes – a figure already reduced from 14,800 when it emerged data used in the original calculations was out of date. The actual need, according to campaigners using fresh information from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), is said to be 5,000 - 8,000. Housing chiefs have said it is too early to comment in detail, but have agreed to look again at the numbers.
