A NUMBER of people have been fined for travelling on Great Western Railways trains without having previously paid their fares. They included:
· Molly Hurford, aged 21, of Coronation Terrace, Exeter, was fined a total of £770. Three charges were proved in her absence. She was charged with one count of travelling on a train without a ticket at Torquay and two counts of being on a train at Starcross without a ticket. She was fined £220 on the first charge and £250 and £300 on the other two. She must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £32.25 and £308 to fund victim services.
· Stanley Nwite, aged 27, of Bedford Park Plymouth, was on the train at Newton Abbot, without having paid his fare of £26.40. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £180, compensation of £26.40 and to pay £88 to fund victim services. The case was proved in his absence.
· Rachel Opie, aged 44, of Queensway, Newton Abbot, was on the train at Exeter St David’s without having paid her fare of £27.90. She was fined £220, and ordered to pay costs of £180, compensation of £27.90 and to pay £88 to fund victim services. The case was proved in her absence.
