A CAR towing a boat was the focal point of Newton Abbot fire station’s latest training night at Gilpins Demolition yard.

The weekly drill saw the crew faced with a mock Road Traffic Collision (RTC) involving two vehicles and a boat.

The boat had come loose and rolled over one of the cars, with the other car coming to a rest on its side.

The were two casualties, one deceased who required extraction, and the other experiencing back and neck pain.

Various equipment was used throughout the duration of the training, including rams, struts, blocks, battery operated cutters and spreader and other, small tools.

‘As always, the crews worked really well together and both the injured casualty and simulated deceased casualty had been removed and retrieved within 25 minutes’, said a spokesperson for Newton Abbot Fire Station.
