FIRE in the engine halted a passenger train at Starcross, affecting other train services.

They said: ‘One fire engine from Middlemoor attended the incident at 14.07 pm, a small fire involving an electrical generator in the front engine.

‘Crew monitoring temperature using a thermal imaging camera.

‘A Network rail incident officer is in attendance, and we will soon be leaving the scene.’

Passengers were told to remain on the train during the incident.
