A TEIGNBRIDGE fire station is appealing for new on-call firefighters to join its crew after a demanding July saw firefighters respond to a wide range of incidents.

Buckfastleigh Fire Station is looking to recruit at least two new team members to help ensure the town’s fire engine remains available to support the local community.

Applicants must live or work within five minutes of the station, located at Bossell Road, and be able to respond to emergencies during some weekdays and selected weekends.

The appeal follows the retirement of firefighter Karl Osborne, who was recently thanked by colleagues for his years of service.
