THE NINTH Dawlish Fix Fest will give residents a chance to give their old items a new lease of life.
Volunteers experts will be on hand at the event to repair anything from IT and electrical goods to bikes, sewing and even welding.
The event is being held on Saturday March 18 between 10am and 1pm at the Manor House.
There is no charge to any work and repairs but donations are welcome to ‘reflect the item’s increase value’, organisers ask.
All donations will go to Dawlish Hospital League of Friends whose fund raising provides the hospital with equipment and services.
Fix Fest and League of Friends spokesman Geoff King explained: ‘Bring something along that needs fixing and we’ll see what we can do.
‘Why buy new when it could be repaired at a fraction of the cost?
‘Not only is in environmentally friendly but it could also help you make your money go further.’
He explained that money raised will help the League of Friends which has recently bought a £400 blood fridges, a £3,500 floor scrubber and money to help the salary of a discharge co-ordinator.
Geoff added: ‘The hospital would not have been built had the Friends not provided all the internal fittings and equipment like furniture and kitchen equipment for the hospital to function.’
