A 'SICK' dog hater has been spiking meat with nails to try to injure pets in the Teignmouth area.

The main area affected is the Coombe Valley Nature Reserve, but other favourite dog walking open spaces may also have been targeted.

Sausages and cubes of meat impregnated with nails or tacks have been left lying around to tempt pets.

It is not known whether any animals have eaten or swallowed the booby trapped food, but samples of the meat have been found lying around and collected by owners.
