A GROUP dedicated to over-50s has changed its name, but some folk now think it is a singing club.

Devon Senior Council has become Devon Senior Voice, and Cllr Fred Vella, from the Teignmouth and Bishopsteignton branch, wants to put the record straight.

She said: ‘Devon Senior Council was thought to be too bureaucratic for what we represent, but it has led to a bit of confusion as a few believe we are a choir.

‘In fact we are all about giving a voice

to over-50s, to make sure they get their thoughts and ideas across.’

The group holds forums every third Friday of the month, at the Teign Heritage Centre in French Street, Teignmouth, and Cllr Vella added: ‘If you want to make a difference or want to know more, come along to our next event, and also enjoy a tipple and a nibble.

‘Also welcome are under-50s who want to check us out for an elderly parent, friend or colleague.’
