NEWTON Abbot’s last remaining hotel – an important gateway to the town – is to be reborn as an apartment block boasting 23 flats.
Teignbridge Council planners are recommending that the landmark Queens Hotel, which closed last year, should be resurrected for residential use only.
There were hopes that a retail facility would be included in the final package, but that has been dropped.
So far just one person has objected to the proposals on the grounds of overcrowding and too few car parking spaces.
