A FAMOUS punter dropped into Newton Abbot’s Cider Bar at the weekend.

Former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley was enjoying a pint or two of golden nectar yesterday ahead of his performance at the town’s racecourse.

The 80s star enjoyed a drink while chatting and taking photos with his fans.

Among the lucky few who witnessed his surprise visit was Amber Caraher, who managed to bag a photo with him, and landlady Kim Leonard who gave the singer a quick cuddle.

She said: ‘He seemed chuffed to be in the Cider Bar.

‘He was a really nice chap, he was chatting with lots of locals

‘Hopefully he will pop back in soon.’

Amber said: 'He was really friendly and didn't mind lots of people taking photos with him.'I was really surprised to see him in the Cider Bar.'Tony’s time in the iconic boozer must have been a memorable one as he mentioned his drop in several times when he headlined the 80s Gold festival.

He told the crowds what a great time he had and reassured them that he had only enjoyed its wares in moderation.
