VOLUNTEERS clearing litter off Teignmouth beaches on Sunday, will be joined
by a former TV presenter.
Natural scientist Howie Watkins, who fronted the BBC’s The Really Wild Show
for seven years, will point out what is lurking on the sands, while removing
debris.
The monthly clean ups are organised by his wife, Cllr Alison Eden, who said:
’I want to send out a visual message that this is a town that takes action.
We need to get people of all ages more aware of the damage litter causes to
wildlife, to our seawater and, on a business note, to our image as a
holiday destination.’
The clean up begins at 11am from the lighthouse. Volunteers are advised
to bring strong gloves, and Teignbridge Council are supplying the pickers.
