THE owner of Rowlands funfair, David Rowlands is offering a free day at his fair to families who have loved ones serving in the Gulf War.

The fair starts its run in Teignmouth on The Den on Tuesday, for a week.

Mr Rowland states he wants to provide the wives/husbands and children who have family members fighting in Iraq a day having fun on his rides.

He promises to throw in a free bag of candy floss for the children.

He has decided to take this generous action, because: 'Many showmen fought in the first and second world war and they lost their lives.'

'My father in law, George Rowlands, also fought bravely in the second world war, those who fight for our country in any war are the bravest men and women around,' he said.

'By inviting these families to the fair, it is a way of giving something back to the community, and those whose families are away from home.'

People who want to take part in Mr Rowlands kind offer will need proof of identification and something to prove that their family member or members are in Iraq and are part of the armed forces.

The Rowlands funfair is a family-run business and is currently in its seventh generation, with Mr Rowlands running the fair. The eighth generation, who are Mr Rowlands' sons, also help him run the business. Mr Rowlands said that his grandchildren, the ninth generation, will also get involved when they are old enough, they are four and one at the moment.

The families who want to take advantage of Mr Rowlands' kind offer enjoying a day out riding on the bumper cards or going on the white knuckle rides – if they dare! can contact David Rowlands for more information on 07770857070.
