GARDENERS in Bovey Tracey are gearing up for a celebratory event.

Bovey Tracey Garden Club is holding an event this Saturday for everyone who loves gardening and is passionate about protecting the town’s green spaces and wildlife.

It will also celebrate the club’s legacy and its future growth.

Billed as an ‘interactive, creative and fun discussion’,

The event takes place at the Methodist Church Hall at Le Molay-Littry Way between 2pm and 4pm.

There will be an opening speech by the Mayor of Bovey Tracey Cllr Sheila Brooke accompanied by the Lord of the Manor Marion Edwards, to celebrate the club’s 162 years in Bovey Tracey.

The event aims to engage the community as well as various community groups to provide a ‘more creative direction’ for the future growth of the club.

A spokesman said: ‘The more members we have the more we can expand on what we offer and continue our legacy of how we contribute to our community, connecting people to growing our green spaces and protecting nature.’

The event will include a plant raffle, plant sales and refreshments with home made cakes.
