RESIDENTS of Daw Vale, Dawlish, care home have proved themselves to be more than a bit crafty after rising to the challenge in an Easter garden competition. All 13 permanent residents were joined by those who attend the home's day centre in an attempt to create miniature gardens using little more than a biscuit tin, finds from the garden and a few bits and bobs bought in town. The eventual winner was Gladys Moore, who impressed the judge, Cllr John Clatworthy, with her verdant creation. 'Competitions like this are not only enjoyable but help to keep us all active,' said care home assistant manager Margaret Baker, who praised her colleague Bronwyn Baker for organising the event. Mrs Moore was presented with a certificate and a china mug complete with a small but loveable teddy bear.
