TEIGNBRIDGE Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee has agreed the terms of reference for a group set up to review the Teignmouth paddling pool.
It will consult with Teignmouth Town Council, Teignmouth Chamber of Trade, Teignmouth Hotel and Caterers Association and representatives of the Teignmouth Regeneration Partnership.
The six members – Independent Cllrs Sandra Heath and Vince Fusco, Conservative Cllrs Ted Hockin and Jeremy Christophers and Liberal Democrat Cllrs David Weekes and Wally Protheroe – will put forward recommendations for the committee which they will present on September 21, to enable a recommendation to go to the executive in October.
The group is to look at the viability of retaining a seafront paddling pool taking into account the health and safety issues, the suitability of the site, and to consider alternative uses.
There is £50,000 included in the district authority's draft budget for 2005/06 and proposals/costings above that need to take into account the opportunity for Teignbridge funding and explore partnership funding and/or external funding from other sources.
