The operators of a Teignmouth hotel that specialises in holidays for the blind and partially-sighted have spoken of their disgust at a second attack by vandals that could have left guide dogs with serious injuries.
Twenty memorial lights in the garden at the Cliffden Hotel, Dawlish Road, were found destroyed on Saturday afternoon by guests who realised they were walking on broken glass.
The 4ft-high lamps were sponsored by visitors in memory of lost loved ones and former canine companions. Each had an inscribed plaque.
All the lights – which are used in the evening to help those with some sight to follow a path in the dog exercise area – were smashed, some torn off at the base.
