The community was out in force to paint Chudleigh Knighton Village Hall at the weekend.
The venue is in the final stages of an upgrading programme to bring it up to date.
The project has been funded by Ugbrooke Environmental Trust, The Greater Dartmoor Leaf project, Hennock Parish Council, National Lottery, Grassroots funding and village donations.
'More than 20 people have helped with the preparation and painting and those who could not help paint provided food to feed everyone, which was very welcome by all,' said Janette Parker, spokesman for Chudleigh Knighton Village Hall.
'We now have a repainted hall in time to have our new floor laid.
'We want to say thank you to the community for their support and to BBH Architects and Sherwell Valley builders who have both been very supportive.'
It had been hoped that the hall would be fully equipped with kitchen equipment, but due to the VAT increase they haven't been able to buy white goods.
'We are in need of a hob, oven and fridge. If any readers would be able to help with a donation it would be received with gratitude,' she said.
The hall will be open for bookings from Tuesday.
The first booking will be an open evening and a Chudleigh Knighton Village Hall general meeting at 8pm on Thursday.
