COVID cases have gone up by 38.3 per cent over the previous seven days according to the latest Government figures. But the number of people going into hospital has fallen.

197 new people in Teignbridge had a confirmed positive test result reported on December 29.

1,000 people had a confirmed positive test result between December 23 and 29, an increase of 38.3% compared to the previous seven days.

Healthcare in Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust:

One person with coronavirus went into hospital on December 19.

Between December 13 and 19 December, 18 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows a decrease of -30.8% compared to the previous seven days.

There were 25 patients in hospital with coronavirus on December 21.

There were two coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on December 21.

Fortunately there were no deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on December 29.
