AFTER Torbay Hospital Maternity Unit put out a plea for knitted orange newborn baby hats, Newton Abbot WI ladies had their knitting needles and orange woolout very quickly and were able to deliver 26 within two weeks of the request.
What a joy it was for Cathy Hodgson and Karen Jenks (pictured here) to hand them over to the unit, who were absolutely delighted with them.
They have asked that we can continue to knit the orange hats, and if at all possible, and time allows, to knit some red and green ones too.
