TEIGNMOUTH is heading for traffic gridlock this summer unless urgent measures are taken to ease congestion.
That was the stark warning from councillors, including the mayor, Cllr Dave Matthews, who believes that a hatching layout at the Exeter Road/Bitton Park Road pinch point would alleviate some of the jams.
But, the town council heard on Tuesday, there was little chance of the county council making any changes before the summer.
Cllr Matthews was 'very concerned' that the snarl-ups were getting worse. People had told him they were not coming to Teignmouth so much because of the time it took to enter and leave the town centre.
