THE team that campaigns tirelessly to keep Teignmouth’s Lifeboat service afloat needs volunteers.

‘We are one crew, would you like to join us?’ urges Wendy Richards Wood of the fundraising team.

She adds: ‘Did you know, it costs £90,000 a year to keep the Lifeboat at Teignmouth?

‘Our Atlantic 85 B-class inshore lifeboat is kept in the oldest operational boathouse in the country (1862), and our amazing volunteer lifeboat crew carry out around 40 rescues a year.

‘All that money is raised by our fabulous fundraising team, and we now need more volunteers to help out with all the future events we have planned when our fundraising activities are allowed to resume.

‘We need people to organise and co-ordinate events, to run fundraising stalls where we sell RNLI souvenirs, donated books, jewellery and collectables, bric-a-brac, and hand-made craft items, to help out in our shop, and to tell visitors all about our Lifeboat.

‘We are a happy and successful team. So, if you want to meet new people and support a brilliant cause where all of us contribute to saving lives at sea, come and join the fundraising crew of the Teignmouth Lifeboat (with the emphasis on ‘fun’) by emailing [email protected] with your contact details so that we can arrange an initial chat.
