Teignmouth residents will see a 3.6% increase in the town council share of council tax this year, ‘in line with inflation’.
The precept increase was agreed as town councillors approved the 2026/27 budget at a full council meeting on Tuesday (January 13).
This means residents in a Band D property will see a £13.46 increase to £204.40 of the council tax bill that goes to the town council, equivalent to 26 pence per week.
Town councillors were invited to two budget-setting meetings where they were able to get a full understanding of where and how money will be spent and contribute to decision making on spending.
Teignmouth mayor councillor Cate Williams said the town council would create a pie chart to illustrate planned spending, which will be available for residents to see on the town council website.
