DAWLISH Town Council is one of the best-organised councils when it comes to organising community events, and it’s now asking residents for what type of events they’d like to see in 2023

The council has organised and managed a core events programme for a number of years. They’ve also provided support (via its events budget and grant programme) for events run by other organisations.

The council also loans out equipment to community groups for events. In 2022 Dawlish Town Council collated, printed and distributed the Events Guide for Dawlish and Teignmouth.

So far this year its events calendar has included helping or organising the Drive It Day; Easter Egg Hunt; Virtual Dawlish in Bloom; Platinum Jubilee Celebrations; Armed Forces Day parade; Alice in Wonderland; Classic vehicles; Brass on the Grass ; Punch and Judy, Dawlish Celebrates Seaside Fun on the Lawn; Dawlish Celebrates Carnival; and last weekend’s Bikes and Trikes.

Still to come are the Dawlish Walking; eat:Food Festival and the Christmas Light Switch On and Christmas markets.

The town council is now inviting suggestions, while being mindful of current economic pressures beyond its control, to continue delivering quality events which will be reviewed by its events committee.

They’d like to know residents’ views to determine which ones are the most popular to help shape the way forward.
