A Newton Abbot taxi driver faces High Noon today after she lost a shoot-out to keep St George's flag stickers on her cab with the words Local Driver across them.

Denise Said asked Teignbridge Council Regulatory and Appeals Committee on Monday to let her keep the signs but was told her hackney carriage licence would be suspended unless she removed them by noon today.

But Mrs Said, who presented the committee with a petition signed by nearly 400 people supporting her, has vowed to fight on and is considering launching an appeal through the magistrates' court.
