THE Teignmouth-based charity that installs life saving defibrillators has now launched a training programme.
The latest was on Tuesday at the Westlands Retirement Home in the resort, where one of the machines has been installed.
Heartbeat chairman and founder member Shirley Brokenshire said one of their aims was to run awareness sessions in cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator use for schools and other groups.
‘Wouldn’t it be great if every school child knew what to do in a case of sudden cardiac arrest. In Norway where this happens, the survival rate, outside hospital, is 76 per cent. Here it is only six per cent. Let’s do something about it.’
