HOMES across parts of Dawlish were without water yesterday after a major water leak.

A burst water pipe caused disruption for residents in the area of Westcliff and First Avenue for several hours.

Householders reported a loss of water supply and low pressures following the burst pipe near Westcliff School.

This morning, there was further disruption as the road was closed where the leak had been repaired.

South West Water said yesterday: ‘Due to a burst main on our network, some customers in the First Avenue, Dawlish, area may experience lower water pressure than usual or a loss of supply while we undertake emergency repairs in the area.

‘Supplies should be restored in the next four to six hours.’
