SOUTHLANDS Care Home, Newton Abbot, presented Rowcroft Hospice with a cheque for £150, on Tuesday.

The money was raised last month when the home staged a tea party with a raffle in aid of the hospice.

Carol Dyke, manager of Southlands, presented the cheque to Debbie Shotton, from Rowcroft, and thanked her and her team for all the wonderful support they give to so many people.

She said: ‘Southlands works in partnership with the Rowcroft team to enable our residents to remain at the home instead of needing hospital admission in their last days, which is a great comfort for everyone concerned.’

Ms Shotton thanked Ms Dyke for the donation, which she said enabled the hospice to not only to provide its bedded unit, doctors and medicine, but to also fulfil its aim of making every day the best day possible for patients and their loved ones.

She said: ‘As a local charity we cared for 2,200 patients last year.

‘It currently costs £8.9 million for our extensive services, of which we need to raise £7 million this year.

‘We look forward to working with Southlands and are very grateful for this donation.’
