An ongoing sewage spill from Bovey Tracey Hospital which has blighted Mary Street for the past week has been likened to Niagara Falls.

The leak was first noticed by resident Sue Haystaff on Friday.

'I reported it straight away to the hospital and they got a company in to sort the problem out,' she said.

Hopes that the nightmare was over were soon dashed when just hours later sewage started pouring from a drain cover in the hospital grounds over a wall and on to the road once again.

Maintenance workers were soon back on site but despite repeated attempts a week later foul waste continues to pour out.
