The boss at one of the district's busiest hotels has joined the call for lower speeds and improved road safety on the lane that serves his business.
Last November, residents living around Hackney Lane said drivers were travelling too fast, but Devon County Council said monitoring had revealed most to be travelling at just 20mph.
But now John Little, general manager for 23 years at the 90-room Passage House Inn, Kingsteignton, has expressed his concerns.
He claimed new housing and the popularity of his hotel had resulted in more people using the narrow stretch of road, making its 60mph speed limit unsafe.
He told the Advertiser: 'It's an accident waiting to happen.'
