THE number of e-bikes seized by police last year has been revealed by a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
Devon & Cornwall Police seized a total of 92 e-bikes in 2025, the FOI request shows.
Last year’s figures were more than triple that of 2024.
A total of 28 e-bikes were seized in 2024.
You can ride an electric bike if you’re 14 or over, as long as it is an ‘electrically assisted pedal cycle’ (EAPC).
You do not need a licence to ride an EAPC and it does not need to be registered, taxed or insured.
An electric bike must be approved if either: it can be propelled up to 15.5mph without pedalling or it does not meet the EAPC rules.
