ASHBURTON was a riot of colour over the weekend with Union Flags everywhere and a civic procession through the main street.
And a duck race added a slash of yellow to the town, appropriately dubbed ‘the jewel in the crown of Dartmoor National Park’.

Karen Turner, town portreeve, said: ‘There was so much going on, we had entertainment from The Cat in the Hat and Diving for Pearls. There were children’s activities and a barbecue, a children’s fancy dress parade and a special church service’.
The Coronation weekend marked mayor Cllr Phil Vogel’s final official duty, and he and Karen were called on to perform a dramatic piece in St Andrew’s Church.
Karen said: ‘I played a fireball, which is quite appropriate when you think about it!’
