A GREAT grandmother living on the route of the £110 million Kingskerswell bypass has demanded that contractors building the road reinstate a footpath before someone is killed.
Former Land Army girl Joan Smaldon, 86, said urgent action was needed after a car left the road at Penn Inn on Friday morning, flipped on to its roof and ended up facing the wrong way on a pavement which pedestrians in Addison Road have been forced to follow.
The old path they had used, further away from the busy A380, was dug up by contractor Galliford Try in February to allow construction work to proceed. Temporary fencing which cordoned off the area has gone but the promised rebuilding is yet to happen.
