A KNIFEMAN is being hunted by police after an £13,000 armed raid on an antiques shop in Newton Abbot.

George Gillman, who runs the Attic store in Union Street, was threatened by the armed man who struck just after 11am on Wednesday.

The offender, aged about 30, ran off with an estimated £13,000 haul, mostly rings.

The drama prompted a major response from police with armed officers, dog units and the force helicopter drafted in to the manhunt.
