Newton Town Under 12s have issued a last minute plea for new players, with the start of Pioneer Youth League season just over a week away.
Despite strenuous efforts by the club and manager Graham Taylor, the squad is still several players short of the required number for 11-a-side football, and time is running out before the scheduled first game on Sunday, September 13.
Club secretary Chris Partridge commented 'It would be a terrible shame after all the work that Graham has put into the team that we might not be able to play at Under 12s this season. We know there are lots of clubs fighting for players at this age group, but there must be some children out there with an interest in football who would like to join a friendly and well-run team, who would otherwise be sat in front of the TV on a Sunday morning.'
Newton Town – based at Coach Road in Newton Abbot – are an FA Charter Standard Community club who ensure all team coaches are FA qualified and CRB checked.
