A TEIGNMOUTH schoolgirl did not hesitate when she spotted a pigeon drowning.

While others looked on from a crowded beach, Laura Beeks, 11, plunged into the sea to the rescue.

She managed to wade out to the stricken bird near the pier just in time and brought it ashore.
