Pupils at Chudleigh Knighton Primary School were busy this week preparing oranges, sweets and ribbon for a Christingle Service at St Paul's Church, Chudleigh Knighton yesterday evening.

'Most of the school took part in the service,' said Sam McCarthy, ethos coordinator at the school.

'They have been working with the Rev Paul Wimsett and learning the meaning of Christingle. Some of the pupils also created a Christingle with bananas, lemons and pears as Jesus knows that sometimes you can slip up in life, it can go a little pear-shaped and then go sour.'
