Three people who had become trapped by the rising tide were rescued on Monday evening (January 5)in the first launch for Teignmouth Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) this year.
Four volunteer crew were on board the Atlantic 85 lifeboat Claude and Kath after Teignmouth RNLI was tasked to assist the fire service at around 7:20pm.
The crew quickly located the casualties on the Teignmouth side of the River Teign, close to Shaldon bridge.
‘Once on scene, the casualties, along with two members of the fire service, were taken safely onboard the lifeboat and transported to Morgan’s Quay,’ a spokesperson from Teignmouth RNLI reported. ‘At Morgan’s Quay, they were met by waiting shore crew and HM Coastguard, allowing for an easy and safe transfer ashore,’ the spokesperson added.
