MEMBERS of Teignmouth Beach Surf Lifesaving club have been praised for helping a woman found in the sea.
They had been out on the water training on their inshore rescue boats when they spotted a person face down in the water.
The casualty was pulled from the water and the team quickly started CPR.
Dawlish coastguard team was also called to the scene along with paramedics and police.
By the time coastguards arrived, the woman was conscious and breathing.
A spokesman for Dawlish coastguards said: ‘Our team assisted ensuring the area was clear of the public and there was good access for police and South West Ambulance Service.
‘The person was handed over to the care of the Ambulance and conveyed to hospital.
‘We wish them all the help available and a speedy recovery.
‘A special well done to Teignmouth Beach Surf Life Saving Club for their swift and successful actions.’
An eye witness added: ‘The team were absolutely amazing acted quickly and professionally most probably saved this lady’s life, well done to everyone who was involved.’
