TEIGNMOUTH actress Mary Fossey won the best actress award in the The All England Theatre Festival Divisional Finals for Devon and Cornwall. It is the second award for her performance as Maria in Blood Ties with Triangle theatre group. Dawlish Repertory Company, Triangle, Open Road Theatre Company Newquay and the Carnon Downs Drama Group competed in the finals held at the Carlton Theatre. The audience was treated to a feast of high standard theatre. Adjudicator Sally Noble, from Bristol, was full of praise for the quality of the productions. The best actor trophy was awarded to Don Lutherborrow, of The Open Road Theatre Company, and the overall winner was Carnon Downs Theatre Group with its production of Semblance of Madness. Runner up was Dawlish Rep with A Light Lunch The high standards mean that Carnon Downs and Dawlish will be competing at the Western Area final, which covers the whole of the West of England, for a place in the English Final. The Western Area final being held at the Carlton Theatre on May 13.
