A MAGICAL mystery motor tour of a Christmas light lit Widecombe-in-the-Moor will be helping to raise money for a new community hall from this evening.
The Christmas light tour around Widecombe and the surrounding area will enable visitors to gaze upon a multitude of festively lit properties from the comfort of their own car between December 10 and 13.
Joint organiser Yvette Elliott said: ‘We wanted to create something Christmassy that everyone could come and see from the safety of their own car. The route that’s been planned is all along the main roads – as some of the lanes are a bit narrow up here.
‘The idea came from a vulnerable Widecombe resident who had seen it done elsewhere in the country.
There’s been huge support for it here and the community has really got behind the idea with nearly 40 residents providing a selection the numerous Christmas windows and displays of all sizes.’
Maps containing the display locations and a chance to enter the prize draw can be brought online from www.widecombecommunityhall.org for £5.
They are also available at the drive-thru start point of the tour at Widecombe Church House between 5pm and 6.30m on each day of the tour.
