A NEW friends group for Newton Abbot Library will hold their first meeting on Monday night in the Passmore Edwards Centre in the town at 6.30pm

The group will promote wider community use of the library as well fundraise for future activities and events.

Library volunteer Roger Grainger said: ‘The library in the Passmore Edwards Centre is a fantastic and valued resource in the heart of the town, already meeting a wide range of community needs, not just lending out books.

‘There are lots of suggestions and ideas being made for new and different ways to maximise the potential of the library and a friends group would be a really effective mechanism to channel and test them out.’

Anyone who would like to become a friend is invited to come along and register on the night, or visit the library at any time and leave your contact details at reception.
