IAN HOWES, of Teignmouth, writes: At last, open planning meetings at Teignmouth Town Council. Cllr Sylvia Russell stresses this had been in the pipeline for some time and was not in response to criticism of 'secret meetings'. Oh, come on! Does she really believe the people of Teignmouth are that stupid? If this was really being considered for 'some time', why did she and town clerk Mr Tickell not mention this in July when they both made it absolutely clear that I would not be allowed to attend a meeting when a planning application directly affecting our street was to be considered? Would this policy change have anything to do with council elections coming up in May, by any chance? A lot of people are utterly fed up with certain councillors deciding 'they know best' without any consultation with, or input from, the public. Fresh, modern, forward thinking is needed on our council. Roll on the May elections!
