ONE spirited Coombeshead Academy student had her locks chopped off in a bid to raise cash for charity.

Amber Beesley, a Year 7 pupil at the Newton Abbot school, wanted to do something for charity in memory of her nan.

The youngster decided she would have her mop chopped and donate the hair to the Little Princess Fund, which makes wigs for children battling with cancer.

Amber’s fundraising effort sparked a day of fundraising at the school which included a raffle, cake sale and games.

The school’s activities raised nearly £200 and Amber drummed up £350.

Headteacher Andrew Hulbert thanked the dedicated fundraisers for all their hard work.
