A TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Newton Abbot girl is about to have a weekend that she will never forget.

Alice Jemima has got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and will be performing at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend today.

She will be giving 25,000 people a music treat when she takes to the BBC Introducing Stage on the final day of the event.

BBC Introducing in Devon said: ‘Almost disconcertingly intimate, Alice’s husky vocals whisper in the ear, seeming to delight in delicate caresses over excess.

‘We can’t wait to hear her latest track Liquorice live at Big Weekend, it is her best track yet.’

Alice won the Helen Foundation Award while at Coombeshead Academy in 2009.

Roger Kirk, chairman of the Helen Foundation, said: ‘We have followed Alice’s career with great interest ever since she won the award.

‘The Helen Foundation trustees are absolutely delighted that Alice has the hard-earned opportunity of performing at this major BBC event at the weekend,’ he added.

The flagship music event takes place at Powderham Castle and will see 50,000 people descend on the venue over the weekend to see the likes of Iggy Azalea, Years and Years, Coldplay and Mumford and Sons.
