THE number of crimes reported to police involving the Grindr app has been revealed by a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
Since 2019, there have been 100 crimes reported to Devon & Cornwall Police that involved Grindr, the FOI request shows.
Just ten per cent resulted in charges being brought.
Between January and June this year, there have been nine crimes reported involving the dating app.
Grindr is a dating app predominantly used by gay and bisexual men.
It uses GPS to locate other users nearby and displays their profile pictures.
Tapping on a profile picture opens the full profile where you can initiate a chat.
Profiles can include a ‘looking for’ field which has pre-defined options ranging from ‘relationship’ to ‘right now’.
