SHALDON Primary School is one of the best in the south west, according to a national newspaper.

It is in the regional top ten of the Sunday Times parent power guide, and the rankings are based on a three-year analysis of Key Stage 2 Sat results at Level 4.

Shaldon scored 880 out of a possible 900. Head teacher Frances Moule said: 'I am delighted, but not surprised because our teachers provide a very exciting, stimulating curriculum and the pupils love learning.

'As a consequence of their love for learning they have made excellent progress and attained really well.'

Two other schools in the county, Ermington and West Hill, also made into the top ten. Cllr Christine Channon, the Devon County Council cabinet member for schools and skills, congratulated all three schools.
