UGBROOKE House opened its gardens at the weekend in aid it the RNLI.

Spokesman for theTeignmouth RNLI Fundraising Team, Wendy Richards Wood, said: ‘We would like to thank all those people who came along to the Ugbrooke Open Garden Fete on Sunday for their support.

‘After battling road diversions and traffic, and with many other events happening locally on the same day, we had a wonderful turnout and raised an amazing £3,052!

‘The weather was kind, and the audience enjoyed Morris dancing displays from Newton Bushell and Black Bess on the Croquet Lawn, and Teignmouth’s own Back Beach Boyz entertained with their sea shanties in the Courtyard.

‘It was so lovely to see everyone out and about enjoying themselves in the fresh air.

There was a display of classic cars, together with all our RNLI stalls, Sonja on the Bodyshop stall, Apps Ice Cream and of course, the scrummy tea/coffee and cakes (all baked by our volunteers together with generous donations of scones from the Wee Shoppe and Mini Heaven in Teignmouth) in the Orangery, were a great success.’

The RNLI stalls will again be on The Den in Teignmouth this Saturday, September18, and the RNLI will be at the Boat Jumble at Newton Abbot racecourse on Saturday, September 25.

Wendy added: ‘If you have any boat-related items, you can donate them by calling Nikki on 07970 076444 or Lisa on 07979 937404.’
